Baku/08.08.23/Turan: Today, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev received a delegation headed by Deputy Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Political Affairs and Security Mehdi Amiri Isfahani.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan, during the meeting,  the parties exchanged  views on criminal cases being investigated by the relevant departments of Azerbaijan and Iran in connection with the terrorist act committed against the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran on January 27 this year.

Aliyev noted the need for the Iranian side to conduct a full and comprehensive investigation of the criminal case, to bring to justice all participants in the crime, to identify law enforcement officers of Iran who showed inaction during the crime, to verify the causes and circumstances of the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy, to impose punishment provided for by law to all persons involved in this crime.

Isfahani expressed regret over the attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran, and also expressed condolences to the Azerbaijani people and family members of the deceased as a result of the incident. In addition, he provided detailed information about the progress of the investigation of the criminal case and said that the investigation will be completed in a short time and a legal decision will be made, and the perpetrators will be punished.

The Iranian meeting will hold meetings with representatives of the Prosecutor's Office and relevant investigative bodies and discuss the progress of the investigation of the criminal case and other topical issues. ----03B06----
