Director of «Abzas Media» banned from communicating with his lawyer and family
Baku/08.12.23/Turan: Arrested director of the online publication «Abzas Media» Ulvi Hasanli is not allowed to contact a lawyer.
This was reported to Turan by his lawyer, Zibeida Sadygova.
According to her, although she can meet Hasanli in Baku pre-trial detention center No. 1, where he is being held, communication by phone is prohibited.
"This is illegal, and I have contacted both the Penitentiary Service and the Ombudsman's office about this. We also intend to file a lawsuit in this regard," the lawyer said.
Sadygova added that the investigation forbade Hasanli to meet and call his family. At the request of the Turan agency the Penitentiary Service touched upon the reasons for restriction of Hasanli's rights as stating that the issue would be investigated and information provided. -16-

On December 3, the Narimanov District Court in Baku considered an appeal by economist and scholar Gubad Ibadoglu challenging the ban on his departure from Azerbaijan. According to the lawyer, this is the third time the court has denied Ibadoglu's request to lift the travel ban.
