During fighting on August 3, Azerbaijani armed forces strengthened control not only over Lachin corridor
Baku/04.08.22/Turan: The occupation of the heights of Sarybaba and Gyrkhgyz enabled the Azerbaijani armed forces to significantly strengthen control over the Lachin corridor, this is the opinion of military experts familiar with the details of yesterday's battles in Karabakh.
At the moment, nearly the entire road from Lachin to Shusha is under visual and fire control. In considering that the road is very winding, the occupation of dominant heights is of fundamental importance, a formerly high-ranking officer of the Azerbaijani armed forces said in an interview with Turan. "Back in the 90s, we fought hard battles with the Armenians for these heights, the control over which was variable," he said.
These are not just heights, but mountain ranges in two directions. Control over them allows you to control a significant part of the Shusha region, including the Lachin road, as well as the entire territory to the north – to Khankendi, the officer noted. -02B-
