ECHR Began Communicating on 14 Complaints of Parliamentary Elections in 2010
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has started communication on 14 complaints of Azerbaijan's parliamentary elections in 2010
According to one of the applicants, the lawyer Khalid Bagirov, besides him among the complainers there are: Executive Secretary of the REAL Movement Natig Jafarli, a lawyer Annagi Hajibayli. a youth activist Sakhavat Soltanly, members of the Popular Front Arzuman Mejidli, Tazahan Miralamli and Khalid Bahadir, blogger Elnur Mejidli, Parviz Gashimli and also Vugar Sabiroghlu, Ziyafet Huseynli, Ali Gasymly, Akif Javadov and Eyub Javadov.
The complaints were filed under Article 3 of Protocol 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights (right to free elections). The applicants are represented at ECHR by the head of the Legal Education Society Intigam Aliyev.
According to him, about 120 complaints of the Azerbaijani elections in 2010 have been sent. They relate to the unreasonable refusal of registration of candidates, election fraud, the use of state resources in favor of pro-government candidates, political discrimination, and unfair handling of complaints.
According to Aliyev, the authorities will be difficult to answer the questions argued. Earlier, ECHR upheld the order of 20 complaints of Azerbaijan in connection with irregularities in the parliamentary elections of 2005-16B06-

On November 28, another hearing took place in the case of public activist Ilhamiz Guliyev. During the proceedings, the court reviewed a response from the 28th Police Station of the Yasamal District in Baku. At the previous hearing, the defense had requested that the court obtain footage from the surveillance cameras at this police station, where Guliyev was taken on December 4 of last year. However, the police response stated that the video footage had not been preserved.
