Baku/23.04.21/Turan: The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), in response to the appeal of ex-deputy Huseyn Abdullayev in accordance with Rule 39 of the Regulations of this organization, demanded information from the Azerbaijani authorities about the applicant's health and medical assistance, Turan was informed by the lawyer Javad Javadov. Abdullayev, who has been in prison since April 12, went on a hunger strike and sent an appeal to the ECHR. According to the lawyer Javad Javadov, Abdullayev's condition deteriorated sharply last week and on April 17, he was forced to stop the action.

“However, Abdullayev's health is not improving, and is getting worse. His internal bleeding increased. Despite the serious threat to his life, he was not transferred to the hospital, the necessary medical examination was not carried out,” the lawyer said.

According to him, the ECHR demanded information from the government as soon as possible about the state of health and measures taken to assist Abdullayev.

The lawyer believes that it is impossible to hesitate with the hospitalization of Abdullayev. "The situation is very serious. Abdullayev vomits blood, urinates with blood, blood flows from the intestines," said the lawyer.

The public relations department of the Penitentiary Service, when asked to comment on the information about Abdullayev's condition, said that the health of all prisoners is in the center of attention, "including this person." If necessary, the prisoners are provided with the necessary medical assistance, said a representative of the Penitentiary Service.

In October 2020, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Arrests recognized the illegality of the detention and extradition of Abdullayev and called for his release.
