Elmar Mammadyarov wishes Richard Morningstar success
On July 17 the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, received the U.S. Ambassador, Richard Morningstar, to mark the completion of the diplomatic mission.
During the meeting they discussed the work carried for development of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in various fields, the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
Mammadyarov wished the Ambassador success in his future activity; until recently senior officials of Azerbaijan angrily accused Morningstar of interfering the internal affairs of the country and almost threatened his expulsion. -06D-

Tehran Abdullayev, an activist from the Surakhani District branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PNFA), has been placed in a detention facility for administrative offenders, his lawyer, Nemat Kerimli, reported after meeting with him on October 21. According to the lawyer, Abdullayev stated that he was detained for his political activities.
