Erdogan: Turkish military in Azerbaijan is a source of pride
Baku/31.12.20/Turan: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope for the success of the mission of Turkish servicemen who are in Azerbaijan to participate in the work of the Joint Turkish-Russian Center for Monitoring the ceasefire in Karabakh.
"The very presence of the Turkish military in Azerbaijan is an indicator of the level of interstate relations, a matter of pride," the Turkish leader said, addressing the military through the phone of National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Anadolu reports.
The head of the Turkish Defense Ministry arrived in Baku accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces Yashar Guler and commanders of the armed forces.
Addressing the servicemen by telephone, President Erdogan wished success in the ceasefire monitoring mission and expressed hope for the early start of the work of the Joint Center on Karabakh.
According to the Turkish President, fraternal Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev has achieved a historic victory in 44 days. "I would like to once again congratulate the Azerbaijani army on the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding areas from the Armenian occupation. The people of Turkey are happy about the victory of Azerbaijan, no less than the Azerbaijanis themselves. This is the source of our pride, " Erdogan said.
Erdogan recommended that the Armenian military immediately stop attempts to violate the ceasefire in Karabakh. "This is a wrong way!" the Turkish president stressed.
The President noted that the Turkish military, who were in Azerbaijan to participate in the Victory Parade on December 10, were greeted with the same joy as 102 years ago they met the Caucasian Islamic Army, which cleared the Azerbaijani lands of the Armenian Dashnaks and Bolsheviks.
Turkey continues to support Azerbaijan on all international platforms, the head of state stressed.
"The Turkish military will carry out all the tasks assigned to them in many countries of the world: from Somalia to Kosovo, from Afghanistan to Qatar, from Syria to Libya. I would like to wish success to our military, which contributes to peace and stability in the world," Erdogan added.
