EU Delegation announces video contest dedicated to Human Rights Day
Baku/26.10.21./Turan: The European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan is organizing a video contest dedicated to Human Rights Day on 10 December with a view of raising awareness on human rights.
People aged 14 to 18 are invited to attend the contest and be asked to make individually or as a group a 2-4 minute video clip on human rights.
A jury will select the three most popular videos.
The works will be evaluated in terms of effectiveness in raising awareness of the importance of respect for human rights by everyone, including children and young people; originality and creativity; and quality of the video.
The winner of the contest will be awarded a GoPro video camera.
The 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive an iPad and an eBook reader, respectively. Winning teams will be honored at a quarantine event in December 2021.
Note that award ceremonies will be held in accordance with quarantine requirements in December 2021.
The three winning videos will be posted on the EU Delegation's online platforms. All participants will be awarded certificates for their efforts to be evaluated by the EU Delegation.
Entries, along with videos uploaded to WeTransfer and a brief summary of the content in English should be sent to delegation-azerbaijan@eeas.europa.eu.
Videos may be filmed in Azerbaijani or English. Written parental or guardian permission must be included for persons under the age of 18 who are shown in the video.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
