EU offers mediation to Armenia and Azerbaijan
Baku/28.08.21/ Turan: The European Union is ready to provide assistance in the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As reported by ru.armeniasputnik.am, this is stated in the congratulatory letter of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, addressed to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the occasion of his appointment to this post.
Borrell noted in his letter that Armenia is an important partner of the European Union. According to him, since 2018, relations between Yerevan and Brussels have significantly intensified, and the entry into force of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement from March 1, 2021 has become a new positive stage.
"The implementation of this agreement is a key milestone in our bilateral relations, and we are ready to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including issues aimed at strengthening democracy, the rule of law and human rights, job creation and business, improving the environment, education and opportunities for scientific research ", - said in the message of the European official.
He reaffirmed the EU's readiness to contribute to a long-term and comprehensive settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, to promote measures aimed at post-conflict reconstruction and the creation of an atmosphere of trust between the parties.
"In this context, we continue to support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group. We are ready to provide assistance in the delimitation of the border," the message says. –0--
