Baku / 20.05.20 / Turan: Yesterday, the first group of Azerbaijani citizens who previously could not leave Dagestan because of the border closure during the pandemic returned from Dagestan.
The head of the Derbent region, Fuad Shikhiyev, said that the return of the remaining Azerbaijani citizens will occur in stages, TASS reports.
The first group that left mainly included women with children and elderly men.
About 700 Azerbaijani citizens have accumulated in Dagestan, who are accommodated in camp sites, hotels and campgrounds.
Until now, the Azerbaijani authorities have not been eager to let their citizens in, citing the danger of the spread of Coronavirus.
However, after telephone conversations between Presidents and Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan on May 18-19, the pass through the border began on the evening of May 19. —06D-
