Georgia offers Azerbaijan co-production of combat aircraft SU-25
Tbilisi/02.05.13/Turan-BSPRESS: Georgia has offered Azerbaijan to start joint production of military aircraft. According to sources in the Defense Ministry of Georgia, it is planned to produce modernized SU-25 at Tbilisi Aerospace Manufacturing Company (TAM.)
Official Tbilisi appealed to Azerbaijan on financing of the project and the organization of joint production. Preliminary reaction to the proposal was positive, but the final decision will be adopted at the government level.
According to official data, Azerbaijan purchased from Georgia 13 planes SU-25. These aircrafts were produced in the TAM, under the program carried out by the Israeli company «Elbit Systems». After upgrading the SU-25 was named "Scorpio". The attack aircraft Su-25 is the main combat aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force.
According to various data, their number in the Azerbaijani Air Force ranges from 30 to 50. -02D-
