Government to Support Students from Vulnerable Groups
Baku / 14.04.20 / Turan: The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan issued a decree on April 13, according to which the cost of training for students studying on a paid basis and belonging to socially vulnerable groups of the population will be paid from the state budget in 2020.
This category includes those receiving targeted social assistance, those, whose both parents or their legal representatives are disabled people of I and II groups, are accounted for as unemployed, receive a retirement pension, or receive social security benefits by age.
The government will cover 50% of the costs for these academic semesters (six months) for studying at foreign universities in certain specialties for each student, approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 120 of June 25, 2010, and 50% of the annual payment in specialized secondary and vocational education institutions.
The decision was made in connection with the worsening socio-economic situation due to the Corona Virus pandemic. -02D-

On November 13, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Afghan Taliban held talks in Baku as part of the COP29 conference. According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.
