Gubad Ibadoglu's relatives banned to leave the country
Baku/05.09.23/Turan: Relatives of the arrested chairman of the Democracy and Welfare Party, economist Gubad Ibadoglu are banned from leaving the country. This was reported to Turan by his brother Galib Togrul.
According to him, the ban also affected all relatives, except for deputy Vugar Bayramov. At the same time, the ban has been imposed on relatives who do not bear the surname "Bayramov".
Add that the ban has been imposed by the interior Ministry: "This is illegal, since the ban can only be applied to those who are named as defendants in a criminal case," said Ghalib Togrul.
The İnterior Ministry could not be reached for comment on this.
* Gubad Ibadoglu was arrested on July 23 on charges of making counterfeit money: under articles 204.1 (preparation for sale, including receipt or sale of counterfeit money or foreign currency), 204.3.1 (commission of the same acts by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
At the end of August, he was charged with a new charge under Article 167-3.1 of the Criminal Code (preparation, storage or distribution of religious extremist materials).
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported that Gubad Ibadoglu was detained as part of an operation against supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in Turkey in 2016. Gubad Ibadoglu categorically rejects the accusations, considering them absurd.
The European Union, the US State Department, a group of senators and congressmen, and many international organizations have called on official Baku to drop false charges against Ibadoglu and immediately release him. -0-
