Head of City Administration Department Arrested in Shirvan
Baku/24.06.20/Turan: Eyub Gulmammadov, the head of the housing department of the executive branch of the city of Shirvan, was arrested on charges of taking a bribe, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan said.
He was detained red-handed while receiving a bribe by the staff of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Attorney General.
He is charged with illegal registration in the name of a citizen of a two-room apartment in a city dormitory.
Gulmammadov is charged under the Article 311.1 (receiving a bribe). The court chose a preventive measure in respect of the former official in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. –06D--

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
