Aide to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev is on a visit to Iran, where he met with Adviser to the President of the Islamic Republic Mehdi Sanayi.
This was stated in a statement by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran on the social platform "X".
"During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on issues of bilateral relations and regional cooperation," the publication further said.
Hajiyev's visit to Iran is taking place against the backdrop of diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
At the end of last month, the ambassadors of Azerbaijan to Iran and Iran to Azerbaijan were summoned to the foreign ministries to express the dissatisfaction of the parties.
