Hikmet Mirzoyev, hero of Karabakh War, appointed Deputy Minister of Defense (Updated)
By order of the head of state dated January 12, Lieutenant General, commander of Special Forces Hikmet Mirzoyev was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. Enver Efendiyev, who held this position, was dismissed to the reserve.
Hikmet Mirzoyev was the commander who designed and carried out the most important operation of the Second Karabakh War – the liberation of the city of Shusha. The strike force of this operation was the Special Forces, which have been commanded by Hikmet Mirzoyev for many years.
According to information from military sources, after reaching the age limit, they were also dismissed from the ranks of the Armed Forces:
Lieutenant General Heydar Piriyev, Major General Zakir Aghayev, Major General Namik Poladov, Vice Admiral Subkhan Bekirov.
