Ilham Aliyev announces plans for the future
The President held a meeting of the government on socioeconomic results over nine months of the year. According to the report of AZTV, at the meeting, Aliyev stated about high macroeconomic indicators: the economy grew by 5.4%, the non-oil sector - by 10.4 %, which is "the highest in the world," he said. Agricultural growth was 5%, the growth of incomes of the population - 7.6%, and the inflation rate was 2.3%. Over the first nine months $17.7 billion were invested in the economy of the country, of which 10.5 billion is domestic investment. Foreign exchange reserves increased, reaching $49.4 billion.
This year opened 90,000 new jobs, and over 10 years 1,200,000 jobs were created, Aliyev said. Then Aliyev touched upon the Karabakh settlement, admitting that there is no real progress, however, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen, and Armenia becomes poorer. Another achievement is the agreement on the construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline. The ministers made reports on the progress.
Summing up the meeting, Aliyev said that the positive economic trends should be preserved, artificial price increases are inadmissible. He said that next year a third state program on development of regions would be adopted.
He said that the fight against corruption will be strengthened, and water supply of the population with water, gas and electricity will be improved. Ilham Aliyev noted "good state of democracy", calling it one of the biggest achievements. Then Aliyev summed up his 10 years of rule, noting that during this period the economy grew by 3, 4 times; $150 billion were invested into the economy, expenditures of the state budget grew by 20 times.
The poverty rate declined by 10 times, the external debt amounted to 7.8 %, pensions have increased by 10 times, salaries by six times, and spending on defense by 20 times.
The meeting took place two days before the presidential election, as a prime example of propaganda in favor of Ilham Aliyev and the use of administrative resources in his favor. -03D-
