Ilham Aliyev awarded Olympic athletes
Baku/12.08.21/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev today signed orders on awarding athletes who achieved high achievements at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Three-time Olympic medalist, wrestler Maria Stadnik was awarded the Order for Service to the Fatherland, first degree. In Tokyo, she won a bronze medal.
Karate fighters Rafael Agayev and Irina Zaretskaya, as well as freestyle wrestler Haji Aliyev were awarded the Order for Service to the Fatherland, second degree. All of them became silver medalists of the games.
Boxer Alfonso Dominguez, judoka Irina Kindzreskaya and Greco-Roman style wrestler Rafig Huseynov became laureates of the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" of the third degree. All three won bronze medals at the Tokyo Games.
Two wrestling coaches Aslan Agayev and Elman Azimzade were awarded the Order of Labor of the third degree.
Another seven representatives of the coaching staff were awarded the Taraggi (Progress) medal. - 06D-

On November 19, the Sabail District Court of Baku granted the prosecution's request to extend the pretrial detention of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov for another four months, his lawyer, Rovshan Rahimov reported. According to the lawyer, the defense considers Abilov’s detention to be unjustified and disputes the charges brought against him. Abilov himself also rejected the accusations. The defense plans to file an appeal against the court's decision.

On November 19, a debate titled "No Climate Justice Without Space and Meaningful Participation" took place as part of COP29. The event was organized by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and a number of other human rights organizations.
