Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump on assuming the office of the US President on 21 January.
‘I express my most sincere congratulations to you on the occasion of assuming the office of the 47th President of the United States of America and wish you success in your future responsible activity at a high level for the benefit of the friendly American people.
I am confident that your future activities will play an important role in promoting world peace and strengthening international security.
Azerbaijan and the United States have always closely cooperated in combating global challenges and threats, international terrorism and its various manifestations, based on the interests of their national security.
I highly appreciate our cooperation in the energy sphere, which serves to ensure the energy security of U.S. allies and is based on good traditions and solid foundations, and I would like to emphasise your continued support for our country's energy policy.
We intend to continue our active and fruitful joint work with the United States, our partnership based on mutual trust and confidence in both traditional and new areas of cooperation, and to work closely with you in these areas.

Due to the winter period, Gubad Ibadoglu has moved from his summer house near Sumgait to Baku. However, every Tuesday and Thursday, he is required to travel to the Sumgait City Police Department No. 1 for registration. According to his lawyer, Zibeyda Sadigova, under Article 3.18 of the Police Supervision Rules during House Arrest, if a person changes their place of residence, they must be transferred to the police jurisdiction of the new residence within 24 hours.
