Ilham Aliyev Lays Foundation of Fizuli-Hadrut Road
Baku/16.03.21/Turan: On March 16, the head of state Ilham Aliyev made a trip to the Fizuli and Khojavend regions. During the trip, he laid the foundation for the new Fizuli-Hadrut highway.
Then he visited the town of Hadrut, where he raised the flag of Azerbaijan.
Then Aliyev visited the main attraction of this region – the Azykh cave (1,400 meters above sea level). This is the oldest human habitat in the Caucasus. The site of primitive men was discovered by Azerbaijani archaeologists during excavations in 1960. Then, a part of a woman's lower jaw was found. The age of the find is 250 thousand years.
People lived in the cave until the last glaciation, during which they left the area. In the cave, archaeologists found the bones of bears, saber-toothed tigers and others, as well as numerous tools of primitive people.
During the period of the Armenian occupation, excavations were carried out in the cave, and some of the artifacts were illegally taken out of Azerbaijan. -02D-
