Ilham Aliyev Leaves for Summit of CIS Heads of State
President Ilham Aliyev left for Kyrgyzstan to attend the meeting of the Council of Heads of the CIS states, the website of the head of Azerbaijan said.
At the regular meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State (CHS) it is planned to consider more than 10 projects in the field of political cooperation and documents in the areas of humanitarian cooperation and security.
The meeting is planned to sign the statements of heads of states - participants of Commonwealth of Independent States in connection with the 25th anniversary of the CIS and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the completion of the Nuremberg Tribunal.
As part of the further expansion of cooperation in the humanitarian field the CHS meeting is expected to consider the draft decisions on declaring 2017 the Year of Family, 2018 - Culture Year in the Commonwealth of Independent States, on the implementation in 2017 of the interstate program Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth in the Azerbaijan Republic and amendments to the regulations on this program.
It is also planned to adopt the program of cooperation of states - participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2017 - 2019, and in the fight against crime committed through the use of information technologies for 2016 - 2020. There will be also discussed the protection of participants in criminal proceedings.
The Heads of State will decide on the chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2017 and on the date and venue of the next meeting of the CHS. -16d-

On January 16, the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of Azerbaijan reported that 32 families, totaling 153 people, returned to Jabrayil. A total of 1,487 people (358 families) have now returned to the Jabrayil region. The day before, 6 families (25 people) returned to the city of Khodjaly, 18 families (92 people) to the village of Ballidja, and 2 families (8 people) to Shusha. In total, 10,675 people have returned to the liberated territories to date.

Georgia's Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, arrived in Baku for an official visit on January 16, and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is expected to arrive in Baku on January 17, reports Echo of the Caucasus, citing government sources. Western countries refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Kobakhidze and his government due to the rigged elections. Until now, Kobakhidze and members of his cabinet have not made any official foreign visits.
