Prezident İlham Əliyev.
Ilham Aliyev Raises Azerbaijan’s Flag in Shusha
Baku/15.01.21/Turan: The head of state arrived in Shusha and visited the Govhar Agha mosque. Then, together with his wife and daughter, he opened bronze busts to three outstanding Shusha residents - composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, singer Bulbul and poetess Natavan.
After the occupation of the city by Armenian troops in 1992, these busts were damaged and taken by the invaders to Georgia for the purpose of selling them for scrap. The Azerbaijani authorities managed to save these monuments and return them to the country. All these years, the busts were kept in the courtyard of the Art Museum in Baku.
Then Ilham Aliyev raised the flag of Azerbaijan in the center of the city and addressed the servicemen of the Azerbaijan army in Shusha.
Recall that the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, the city of Shusha, was occupied by the Armenians during the First Karabakh War in May 1992. The city was liberated by the Azerbaijani army 28 years later - on November 7-8, 2020 during the Second Karabakh War. -02D-
