Baku / 20.12.17 / Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today received the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Movlut Cavusoglu. During the meeting, Aliyev stressed the importance of the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran held in Baku today in terms of strengthening cooperation. Touching upon the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the head of state appreciated this as an important event not only regional but also international. At the meeting, the importance of the successful TANAP project was underlined.
Today, the Iranian President also received Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif. During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for ties between the two countries in the banking, energy, transport, trade and investment sectors. -0--

Economist and PhD candidate at Istanbul University Fazil Gasimov has been on a hunger strike for 97 days at the Penitentiary Service Medical Facility. On September 17, he was visited by representatives from the Baku office of the International Committee of the Red Cross, according to his lawyer Rovshan Rahimli. The lawyer stated that the Penitentiary Service is applying pressure on Gasimov to end his hunger strike.
