Baku/04.12.23/Turan: On December 4, freelance journalists Aytaj Mammadli and Shahla Kerim were detained in Lankaran and subjected to psychological pressure from employees of the executive branch and the police, the journalists themselves stated. According to the girls, they were in Lankaran to prepare a report. Two days ago, they were detained at a local market, and today they were detained while interviewing residents on the streets of the city.
"They told us that we violated the instruction not to shoot," Shahla Kerim said. They were also told that they did not have official identification cards and were not included in the register of journalists. "We said that we are freelancers and do not work in a particular media outlet," Kerim said.
After the arrest, the girls were taken to the Housing and Maintenance Department, where employees of the executive branch of Lankaran and the police "dealt with him."
"Psychological pressure was exerted on us, they demanded to say who sent us, that we were spies, etc. Videos were deleted from Aytaj's phone, and read correspondence on WhatsApp on my phone. Then they took the memory cards from the video cameras to make recordings. The cards were returned only after we called the head of the press service of the Interior Ministry, Elshad Hajiyev," Kerim noted.-06B-
