Iran insists on ending the occupation of Azerbaijani lands
Baku / 14.10.20 / Turan: Iran has again voiced its position on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict: respect for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and end the occupation of its lands.
Iran considers the solution to the Karabakh conflict to be a dialogue based on international rules, said the head of the Iranian presidential administration Mahmoud Vaezi, commenting on the Russian Federation's initiative to end hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. IRNA reports.
“We welcome any act leading to an end to the conflict and bloodshed in our region,” he said.
According to him, Iran's unchanging position on Karabakh is the recognition and respect for the territorial integrity of the countries according to international borders.
“We always emphasize the need to end the occupation and the conflict will be resolved if this principle is respected,” he added.
"A precondition for any dialogue is a ceasefire," Vaezi said, noting that Iran would thank Russia for its mediation efforts in the Karabakh conflict and hopes that both countries will adhere to the current conclusions in this context.
Earlier, on October 6, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Spiritual Leader of Iran and ex-Foreign Minister of this country Ali Akbar Velayati said in an interview with YJC that Armenia should immediately leave the occupied lands of Azerbaijan.
“We respect the principle of the territorial integrity of states. As a UN member state, Iran adheres to a principled position on this issue. Especially when the conflicting countries are our northern neighbors,” he said.
Ali Khamenei's adviser noted the inadmissibility of the occupation of the territory of one country by another.
“Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions of the Azerbaijan Republic are occupied. The UN has adopted four resolutions on this issue. All of them demand from Armenia to leave the occupied lands, to return to international borders," Velayati said.-0-

Official Baku has condemned the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the Azerbaijan-Armenia border during his official visit to Armenia. "The visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the to Armenia-Azerbaijan border area in the company of members of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), unfortunately, is another demonstration of anti-Azerbaijani policy of different EU member countries and European institutions. We deeply regret that President of the country which is officially a “strategic partner” of Azerbaijan has participated in the unacceptable diplomatic “binocular show” leading to the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland,”" reads the statement on the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X (formerly Twitter).
