Jeyhun Bayramov: The issues of signing a peace treaty and delimitation of borders are different processes
Baku/28.12.23/Turan: There is progress in the package of proposals that Baku received from Yerevan on November 21, although disagreements between the parties still remain, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov said at today's press conference.
At the same time, he found it difficult to say "how close or far it is from the peace." I believe that if there is serious political will, a peace agreement can be concluded quickly. Otherwise, the process will be delayed," the minister stressed.
Bayramov noted that the issues of signing a peace treaty and delimitation of borders should be separated from each other. Even between countries that do not have a serious territorial conflict, the process of delimitation can take a long time. "But if we want to sign a peace treaty as soon as possible, we must separate these two processes," Bayramov said.
He stressed that the issue of 8 villages under the control of Armenia has always been discussed in negotiations, their belonging to Azerbaijan is not a matter of dispute.
According to Bayramov, the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia should not become a "hostage of third parties." He noted that the foreign ministers may meet at the border. –06B-
