Kauzlarich: "I Wouldn't Go To The Territories Until There Is A Peace Agreement"
"If I were U.S. Ambassador -- I would not go to the territories until there is a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Richard Kauzlarich, who served as Bill Clinton's ambassador to Azerbaijan (1994–1997), told TURAN's Washington correspondent when reacting to the latest controversy in Azerbaijan over western diplomats' refusal to attend a government organized trip to Shuha,
Azerbaijani Presidential Foreign Affairs Aide Hikmet Hajiyev on Friday singled out the ambassadors of the U.S. and France, criticizing them for refusing to visit Shusha where a conference of accredited foreign diplomats was held.
According to Kauzlaruch, the purpose of such invitations is to stage a "photo opportunity."
"Also, I would travel there at a time of my choosing, not because I was "invited." he added.
