Kazakhstan destroys Nazarbayev clan
Baku/17.01.22/Turan: On January 17 it became known about the dismissal of several members of the family of the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev from their top positions.
Thus, Timur Kulibayev (husband of Nazarbayev's middle daughter) resigned as the chairman of the presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken. Forbes estimates the Kulibayev family's fortune at $3 billion.
Besides, President Tokayev relieved Samat Abish of his position as first deputy chairman of the National Security Committee. Earlier it was reported that Abish had been detained.
Note that the Kulibayevs controlled the largest bank of the Republic, Halyk Bank.
Two other Nazarbayev' relatives also lost their posts. Dimash Dosanov, who is married to Aliya, the younger daughter of the former President. He was early dismissed from the post of director general of Kaztransoil.
Kairat Sharipbayev, who is said to be the husband of Nazarbayev's eldest daughter Dariga, had been working as head of the national gas company QazaqGaz for less than a year and a half. He was also dismissed as of January 15.
Also, it is reported that Nazarbayev's children are at their villas in Geneva and London. Nazarbayev himself is not in the public eye since early January and unofficially stays in the United Arab Emirates.
Apparently, the nationalization of the Nazarbayev family and clan's fortunes is imminent. -02D-
