Large-scale clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Baku/13.09.22/Turan: Armenian Armed Forces have committed a large-scale provocation in Dashkasan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions, reads a message from the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
"The sabotage groups of the Armenian armed forces in the dark time of the day mined the areas between the positions of the Azerbaijani army units and the supply road in different directions, using the mountainous terrain and the existing valley gaps.
As a result of urgent measures taken by our units to immediately prevent these acts, clashes occurred.
Some positions, shelters and bases of the Azerbaijani army in the territory of Dashkasan, Kalbajar and Lachin regions were fired from various types of weapons, including mortars by units of the Armenian Armed Forces. As a result, there are losses among the personnel, the military infrastructure has been damaged.
In order to prevent provocations by the armed forces of Armenia and military threats to the territory and sovereignty of our country, as well as to ensure the safety of our military personnel, including civilians involved in infrastructure work in the Kalbajar and Lachin regions, decisive response measures are being taken by units of the Azerbaijani army deployed in this area.
The necessary measures are being taken to silence the firing points of the Armenian armed forces and prevent the expansion of the scale of military clashes.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also denied reports about the shelling of the civilian population, facilities and infrastructure by the Azerbaijani army. "This is another disinformation spread by the Armenian side," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“Countermeasures in response to the provocations of Armenia are of a local nature and are directed against legal military facilities that are firing points. The response measures are small-scale and targeted and aimed at ensuring the security of Azerbaijan's borders and stopping the provocations of Armenia,” the press release says.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also denied reports of a downed Azerbaijani plane on the border with Armenia.
According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, on the night of September 12-13, the armed forces of Azerbaijan began intensive shelling of Armenian positions in the direction of Goris, Vardenis, Jermuk and Gafan. The shelling is carried out from artillery and large-caliber guns, drones are also actively used, the Armenian side claims. -06B-

Rashad Melikzade, the former head of the financial department at the Training and Education Center of the Ministry of Defense and a lieutenant colonel, has been sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison. The verdict was issued on Monday by the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The court also ordered the seizure of property belonging to Melikzade and his family, valued at 2 million manats, to compensate for the damage caused to the state.
