Macron again phoned the President of Azerbaijan
Baku / 02.10.20 / Turan: French President Emmanuel Macron called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and expressed concern over the ongoing hostilities on the line of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact; he called for an early restoration of the ceasefire and negotiations.
President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, noted that because of heavy artillery shelling of Azerbaijani settlements by the Armenian armed forces, 19 civilians of Azerbaijan were killed, more than 60 people were injured, and hundreds of houses were destroyed. The Azerbaijani army carried out successful counter-offensive operations and liberated part of the occupied territories.
The head of state also noted that Armenia took steps to disrupt the negotiation process, which dealt him a serious blow. President Ilham stressed that the Armenian leadership bears full responsibility for the breakdown of the negotiations, as well as for the emergence of a new armed conflict.
This is Macron's second phone call to the President of Azerbaijan since the beginning of the resumption of hostilities in Karabakh on September 27. — 06D-
