Macron and Putin discussed Karabakh on the eve of the meeting of the heads of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia
Baku/10.01.20/Turan: Within the framework of coordinating the actions of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, during which he discussed some issues related to the upcoming trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow on January 11. Taking into account the consistent implementation of the joint Statement of November 9, 2020 and the stabilization of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, it was noted that first of all, this meeting is intended to consider further steps to establish peaceful life in the region.
The French President expressed support for Russia's efforts to promote the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. The importance of urgent provision of humanitarian assistance to the population affected by the clashes, including through relevant international organizations, was emphasized.
Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron congratulated each other on the Christmas and New Year holidays.
