Maria Zakharova urged Baku and Yerevan to show restraint
Moscow/17.11.21/Turan: Russia calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to show restraint, prevent new incidents and resolve all disputes exclusively through political and diplomatic means, stated on Wednesday the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a weekly briefing.
She noted that Baku and Yerevan assess the situation diametrically and accuse each other of what happened. "Russia is in contact with both Azerbaijan and Armenia to transfer the situation to a peaceful channel," she said.
She recalled that yesterday Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts. As a result of these mediation efforts, the fighting ended.
“We are ready to continue rendering assistance to the parties in the interests of peace and stability in the region,” she concluded. -02D-
