Natig Javadly
Lawyer Zibeyda Sadygova met with reporter Natig Javadly, arrested in the 'Meydan TV' case, on 4 February in Baku pre-trial detention centre-1.
The lawyer told Turan Agency that no investigative actions have been carried out with the journalist after his arrest. There are general actions on the case. At the same time, Javadly refuses to sign the investigation materials, as he initially refused to testify, considering the charges of smuggling unfounded, the lawyer said.
The lawyer emphasised that Javadly remains cheerful and sends his greetings to all those who express support for him.
*6 December 2024 'Meydan TV' employees Aynur Elgunesh, Aytaj Tapdyg, Hayalya Agayeva, Aysel Umudova, Natig Javadly and freelance journalist Ramin Deko (Jabrailzadeh) and media expert Ulvi Tairov were detained on suspicion of currency smuggling.
A court arrested them on 8 December. Journalists linked the criminal case to their professional activities. Human rights activists recognised them as political prisoners.

According to the lawyer, the journalist herself did not participate in the trial due to poor health. The defense intends to submit a petition to replace the arrest with house arrest.
