Milli Majlis responded to US Senate
Baku/11/21.23/Turan: On November 21, the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan made a statement due to the Law S.3000 (Act in Defense of Armenians), adopted earlier by the US Senate.
The statement condemns the anti-Azerbaijani act and calls for taking an "objective" position in the South Caucasus processes.
"The Azerbaijani Parliament rejects the decision of the US Senate of November 15. Such actions by Washington have a negative impact on peace and stability in the region.
The US support of the aggressor-Armenia helped it to occupy the lands of Azerbaijan.
For 30 years, the United States has adopted no sanctions against Armenia, on the contrary, it has provided financial assistance and held high-level meetings.
Such steps by the American side have damaged the reputation of the United States in Azerbaijani society. Unfortunately, the United States repeats the mistake it made against Azerbaijan in 1992 with the adoption of the discriminatory 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act," the statement said.
The US also supported the separatist regime in Karabakh. Today's actions of the United States as a mediator have led to the loss of confidence on the part of Azerbaijani society, and America's foreign policy has completely failed in recent years. This is evidenced by the US policy in the Middle East and Afghanistan, the parliamentarians believe.
"The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan once again declares that Azerbaijan will always respond decisively to all negative steps in line with the norms and principles of international law," the statement reads.—16B06-
