Mnatsakanyan Calls on Baku to Negotiate with Karabakh
Yerevan / 08.27.19 / Turan: Azerbaijan"s attempts to undermine the military-political balance, which so far have also been expressed through the use of force, pose a threat to security and peace in the region. This was stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, speaking on Tuesday at a conference of the heads of diplomatic missions and consulates of Armenia in Yerevan.
"Azerbaijan"s efforts to conduct negotiations in a tense atmosphere impede the creation of an enabling environment for peace and thus do not contribute to a lasting and comprehensive settlement of the problem," Radio Liberty quotes the Minister.
"Armenia cannot agree to any option of settlement that could jeopardize the security of the people of Karabakh and limit their ability to exercise the right to self-determination," Mnatsakanyan stated.
"If Azerbaijan is really interested in a peaceful settlement of the conflict, then it should be equally interested in negotiations with elected representatives of the Karabakh people," he said. -02D-
