"Musavat" creates an initiative group "Respublika"
On August 2 took place an extraordinary meeting of the "Musavat" Majlis at which was created an initiative group on referendum on constitutional amendments under the name "Republic". The founding meeting was attended by over 200 representatives from 40 regional organizations of the party, said the head of the electoral headquarters of "Musavat" Gulaga Aslanli. The Initiative group intends to collect 40,000 signatures of voters for the official registration of the group "Respublika". This will lead across the country campaigning against the amendments to the Constitution. According to the head of "Musavat" Arif Hajili, negotiations on cooperation on this issue with other parties. The initiative group "Respublika" is expected to include representatives of the movement "D-18" and the other parties and organizations. A referendum is scheduled for September 26. The amendments, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev provide for the increase of the presidential term to 7 years, to give him the right to appoint a First Vice-President and Vice-Presidents, dissolve the parliament, etc.-03B-
