Mutual visits of Azerbaijanis and Armenians will be possible after the establishment of diplomatic relations
Baku/09.01.21/Turan: Mutual visits of Azerbaijanis and Armenians and discussion of issues of visa-free travel issues require first the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Leyla Abdullayeva, the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said this commenting on the discussion in social networks of information from the website of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the inclusion of Azerbaijan in the list of states with which this country has a mutual visa-free regime.
“To establish diplomatic relations, it is necessary to mutually recognize and respect sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders,” she stressed, noting that at present there is no international treaty regulating mutual travel between the two countries.
“Therefore, at this stage, it is unreasonable to talk about exemption from visas on the basis of reciprocity,” Abdullayeva summed up.
This issue was raised by the Armenian side after Ilham Aliyev's demand to put an end to the trips of Armenian officials to Karabakh. To this, the representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry replied that a visa-free regime operates between the two countries. –06D-
