National Council condemns the pressure on and Leila Yunus
The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) issued a statement condemning the continuing pressure on human rights activist Leyla Yunus and her husband Arif Yunus.
In a statement expressed protest against the prosecutors threatening to bring them to justice, and against the darkening campaign launched against them in the pro-government media. The NCDF also indicates the illegal seizure of their passports and documents on the title deed. The statement authors regard these illegal actions as a gross violation of human rights.
The NCDF condemns calls for the investigation of civil society activists and journalists as witnesses in the case of journalist Rauf Mirkadirov, and attempt to collect during these interrogations "evidence" against Yunus.
L.Yunus is a member of the NCDF, and the authors of the statement regard the pressure on her as part of the repressive policies against NCDF. In conclusion, the authors of the statement demanded an end to pressure on spouses Yunus.-05D06-
