NATO-Russia meeting held at Heydar Aliyev Center
Baku / 07.02.20 / Turan: Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the NATO Allied Forces General Tod Walters held a meeting on February 6 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the military leaders exchanged views on strategic stability, the situation in crisis regions of the world, and discussed practical steps along the military line in order to prevent incidents caused by the military activities of the parties.
Prior to this, Gerasimov and Walters were received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Gerasimov also held a separate meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Najmeddin Sadykov.
Over the past three years, the top military commanders of Russia and NATO regularly meet in Baku to discuss pressing regional issues. First, this concerns the conflict of interests and coordination in crisis areas of the world, and especially in the Middle East.-02D-

According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.

Kichikhanim Khalilova, the wife of arrested public activist and first-group disabled person, Famil Khalilov, reported being followed during her time at the COP29 conference on November 13. She had been accredited in the "Green Zone" as a civil rights activist. From the moment she entered the conference area, a young man began to follow her.
