NATO Secretary-General in Tbilisi
Tbilisi/26.06.13/Turan-BS PRESS: On June 26 NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen arrived in Tbilisi for a two-day official visit.

The matter of getting the Action Plan for NATO membership (MAP) is not essential for Georgia, as there are instances when states became members of the Alliance without it, the head of the Georgian government Bidzina Ivanishvili said after the meeting with Secretary General of NATO.

"As for the IDA, we do not put this question so fundamentally. We will wait until the member countries of NATO, will discuss it inside. Today we had a conversation and it does not matter if the states become parties to NATO without MAP, as there are such examples," Ivanishvili said.

In turn, the NATO Secretary General said that the agenda of the summit of NATO in 2014 has not been determined and it is unknown what issues will be discussed at the forum.

He also said that Georgia has made significant progress towards integration into NATO.

"As you know, only with Ukraine NATO has a special commission. We formed the NATO-Georgia Commission in 2008 in order to take the next steps after the Bucharest Summit, where it was agreed that Georgia will become a member of NATO, of course, taking into account the fact that Georgia will satisfy all the necessary requirements," said Rasmussen. -02D-
