Opposition Holds Rally in Novkhany
Baku / 31.01.19 / Turan: On January 31, the birthday of Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh, the opposition holds a traditional rally at his monument in its native village Novkhany.
At 11 o'clock, members and supporters of the Musavat party created by Rasulzadeh more than 100 years ago gathered at the monument.
Addressing the crowd, the leader of Musavat, Arif Hajili, noted the huge role of Rasulzadeh not only in the history of Azerbaijan, but also in the achievement of freedom by many peoples of the Middle East.
One of the main achievements of Rasulzadeh was that he did not give up after the fall of the sovereign Azerbaijan Republic in 1920, and devoted the rest of his life to the formation of political emigration and an efficient Diaspora abroad.
The head of the Center for National Strategic Thought and the former head of Musavat, Isa Gambar, in turn, called the personality of Rasulzadeh "decisive" in the history of Azerbaijan,
It was under Rasulzadeh that modern Azerbaijan with its coat of arms and flag appeared on the world map.
Gambar accused the modern authorities of Azerbaijan of ignoring the merits of Rasulzadeh and forgetting his name. As an example, he recalled the monument to Rasulzadeh, created in 1993 and still kept in the workshop of the sculptor Omar Eldarov.
"For 25 years this monument has been under arrest. The authorities find a place to install hundreds of all sorts of monuments, but are not able to find a place for the monument to the founder of independent Azerbaijan. We demand the release of this monument, as well as all political prisoners and installing it in a decent place, " said Gambar. -05B-
