Order on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide
Baku/28.01.22/Turan: On January 28, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order: “On the thirtieth anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.”
The document reads that on the night of February 26, 1992, Armenian formations, with the participation of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet Army stationed in Khankendi, attacked the city of Khojaly, committing an unprecedented massacre of the civilian population; 613 people were killed, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people. 487 civilians were seriously injured, 1275 were taken hostage. More than 150 people are missing.
“The Khojaly genocide must be given a legal assessment, and those responsible for this terrible tragedy must be punished. The Azerbaijani people will never forget the Khojaly tragedy,” the order says. The presidential administration was instructed to develop an action plan to mark the 30th anniversary of this tragedy.—06B-
