OSCE Baku Office Prepared Proposals for Presidential Elections

OSCE Office in Baku within the framework of its mandate has developed a number of measures in the upcoming October presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

As the head of the Baku office Koray Targay said, it is expected to conduct three round table discussions, four training sessions and other events.

Meanwhile, the question remains about changing the mandate of the OSCE Office in Baku.

Earlier official Baku suggested lowering the status of the office to "project coordinator", depriving the mission of monitoring functions. However, as noted Targay, the office continues to work on the former mandate. According to him, the issue of changing the mandate is under discussion.

"The government of Azerbaijan has made some suggestions. At the same time, a number of OSCE member states have their own views on the matter," said the head of the OSCE Office in Baku.

However, he said that the situation with the relegation of the OSCE offices in Georgia and Ukraine differs from Azerbaijan. -06D-
