OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights announces recruitment for Election Observation Mission to Azerbaijan
The OSCE/ODIHR has received an official invitation to observe the early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan on September 1, 2024.With that end in view, the ODIHR is preparing an observation mission for these elections.
According to the organization's press release, the ODIHR is recruiting political, legal, election and media analysts, a coordinator of long-term observers, as well as the head of the mission and his deputy.
The temporary contracts will be for seven weeks. The deadline for applications is July 17, 2024.
The Mission is expected to have 30 long-term and 280 short-term observers.

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
