OSCE PA President Did Not Arrive in Baku
The visit to Azerbaijan by OSCE PA President Ilkka Kanerva has been postponed due to health problems. The journalists were told by the Deputy Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli.
Kanerva's visit to Azerbaijan was scheduled for 24-25 January. Instead, the delegation of the OSCE PA was enlarged - two Deputy Chairmen and Secretary General.
"The purpose of the visit is the discussion and solution of the existing problems, in particular problems concerning the organization of elections," Tsereteli told reporters.
He expressed hope that the efforts of both sides will lay the foundation for improved relations.
Recall that the mission of the OSCE ODIHR refused to monitor the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan in November 2015 because of the restrictions on the delegation’s number by the official Baku.
Today, the delegation was received by President Ilham Aliyev. -16D04-
