Overchuk in Baku, preparations for the Sochi meeting have begun
Baku/24.11.21/Turan: On Wednesday, November 24, President Ilham Aliyev received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk. The official report did not disclose the topic of the meeting.
Beyond any doubt, the conversation is dedicated to the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia to be held in Sochi on November 26. For this meeting, the sides should work out proposals on the delimitation and demarcation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and the principles of the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Note that Overchuk heads the Russian side in the trilateral commission, as does Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev. His participastion at the meeting reaffirms that Karabakh is the subject of the meeting.
Initially, the sides agreed to meet on November 9 to approve the agreements reached. But at the last moment Nikol Pashinyan said that he would not do it, because no issue of the release of Armenian prisoners was resolved.
Overchuk's current visit seems to finalize the agenda for the November 26 meeting. The probability remains that he will fly from Baku to Yerevan to hold a similar meeting with Nikol Pashinyan. -02B-
