Pashinyan Hopes Peacekeepers Will Stay in Garabagh for More Than Five Years
Baku / 25.11.20 / Turan: The Garabagh (Karabakh) conflict is protracted; therefore, the stay of the Russian peacekeepers is unlikely to be limited to a five-year period. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with TASS agency.
It is currently important to ensure stability in Karabakh and the security of the population.
When asked what the status of Karabakh will be in the current conditions, Pashinyan said the process within the OSCE Minsk Group should continue and the status should be determined. At the same time, he noted that Armenia's position on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh “is known and it has not changed ".
When asked about his possible resignation, Pashinyan said the opposition's calls "did not receive wide publicity in Armenian society." It is necessary to achieve the return of citizens to Garabagh and provide them with social guarantees. He expressed satisfaction with the role of Russia in ensuring the return of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh to their homes, including the residents of those settlements that came under the control of Azerbaijan. “This process should become a priority for the negotiation process,” Pashinyan said.
Can we talk about the gradual normalization of interstate relations with Azerbaijan? To this question, Pashinyan said that "this is a very important point, and I think that in the near future we should focus on this." Unblocking transport communications can become a starting point, Pashinyan noted. -02D-
