Pashinyan scolds Russia and buys arms from India
Baku/29.09.22/Turan: Allied countries fail to perform their commitments on arms supplies to Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a government meeting on Thursday.
He added that "hundreds of millions of dollars have been paid, but the obligation to supply arms to Armenia is not met, including by allied countries," he said, without specifying which countries those are. According to him, Azerbaijan has the best relations with Armenia's allies.
"They are trying to make sure that no weapons and ammunition are supplied to Armenia. There are cases in which hundreds of millions of dollars have been paid; however, the obligation to supply arms to Armenia is not fulfilled, including by allied countries. This, of course, is a painful reality. And we have to deeply analyze that situation", Pashinyan said.
According to him, this is done so that "the Armenian side has sacrificed its statehood, its sovereignty and made concessions on issues of its territorial integrity."
"I want to emphasizethat despite all these, we are determined to defend our independence, our sovereignty, our territorial integrity," he said.
Recall that Russia is the main arms supplier to Armenia. This is Pashinyan's second public statement accusing Moscow.
Against this backdrop, the Indian newspaper "The Economic Times" reported on arms and ammunition supply agreements signed this month. According to the same source India will supply Armenia with multiple rocket launchers "Pinaka", as well as anti-tank missiles and other ammunition. The delivery of "Swathi" radars is also planned.
