Pashinyan's statements call into question sincerity of Yerevan - Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku/12.05.22/Turan: Ungrounded accusations against Azerbaijan voiced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his visit to the Netherlands cast doubt on Yerevan's sincerity in normalizing relations with Baku and achieving peace in the region. Leyla Abdullayeva, official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, commented on the statements made by Pashinian in the Netherlands where he accused Baku of failing to honor its promises to release "prisoners of war.
The groundless accusations made by the Armenian Prime Minister against Azerbaijan, including the far from reality claims on humanitarian issues, suggest that the Armenian leadership is not at all sincere in normalizing relations between the two countries, Abdullayeva said.
Armenia's submission of maps of minefields is not a "humanitarian gesture"; it was Yerevan's obligation under the November 10, 2020 trilateral statement. Since that document was signed, 219 people have fallen victim to mines in Azerbaijan, mostly civilians, Abdullayeva said.
When it comes to the accusations of not returning the detained Armenians, Baku considers them saboteurs sent to Azerbaijani territory after the end of the war.
The unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan cast doubt on Armenia's willingness to act for peace," Abdullayeva said.-06B-
