Patrushev and Mehdiyev Sign Cooperation Plan
Baku / 06/18/19 / Turan: The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev held bilateral negotiations with colleagues from CIS member states. Documents were signed on the development of security cooperation, the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation reported.
Patrushev and the Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Ramiz Mehdiyev, discussed current issues of Russian-Azerbaijani security cooperation and signed a cooperation plan, providing for a constant exchange of information and consultations at the level of experts from security councils, law enforcement agencies and special services of the two states (RIA Novosti). -06D--

Economist Fazil Gasimov, who was arrested in the case of opposition politician and scientist Gubad Ibadoglu, addressed the local and world community from the Baku pre-trial detention center-1. He reports that after his arrest last year, psychotropic substances were mixed into his tea at the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (DCOC), under the influence of which he gave false testimony against Ibadoglu, and then was forced to confirm them in a confrontation.

On June 25, the Sabail Court of Baku extended for another 3 months (until September 27) the term of arrest of Aziz Orujev, director of the Yotube edition of “Kanal 13”, and his employee Shamo Eminov, lawyer Fahraddin Mehdiyev told Turan. Aziz Orujev and Shamo Eminov were arrested in November-December 2023 on charges of smuggling currency by an organized group. Both deny the charges, considering their journalistic activities to be the true reason for the arrest.

A group of academics and researchers have called on U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken to intervene in the case of Azerbaijani economist Dr. Gubad Ibadoghlu, who is under house arrest in Baku. The letter, signed by over 50 scholars, highlights the deteriorating health of Dr. Ibadoghlu and requests urgent action to allow him to receive medical care abroad.
